Kalimpong is located in the northern part of the state of West Bengal, in the northeastern region of India. It is adjacent to the state of Sikkim and near the Teesta River. The first thing that strikes the traveler visiting Kalimpong is its quiet atmosphere. The peaceful ambience that pervades is heightened by the presence of monasteries and churches across the town. Kalimpong is also known for its bustling bazaars and traditional handicrafts. It is famous for its orchids and nurseries. Kalimpong offers panoramic view of the great Himalayan ranges that lie beyond it. There are numerous nurseries in Kalimpong, which excel in production of orchids. Travelers can visit some important nurseries across the town and look at their collection of flowers, orchids and cacti. Gangtok is a city, which, till one sees it, one would believe exists only in picture-story books. Pelling a beautifully located hill at a height of 6800ft initially covered with wild thick jungle providing hideouts and shelter to many indigenous wild animals.

Day 1 (Sat)Departure from Sealdah station by Darjeeling Mail (2343 UP) at 22.05hours Day 02: NJP Railway Station- Kalimpong (About 85 km/3 hrs)Meet & Greet on arrival at NJP station & transfer to Kalimpong - Kalimpong is a pretty hill station, with majestic Himalayas in the background and gently rolling hills around. It has a relaxed and unhurried air about it. On arrival check-in to your hotel & rest of the day is at leisure. Overnight at hotel. Day 03: Kalimpong - Gangtok (About 80 Km /3 Hrs)After early breakfast visit Mangal Dham, Deolo Hills, Dr.Graham's Home, Durbin Dhara Hill & Flower Nurseries back to hotel. After lunch drive to Gangtok- "The Capital City of Sikkim". On arrival check-in to your hotel. Overnight at hotel. Day 04: Gangtok (Trip to Tsomgo Lake & Baba Mandir)Start for a half day excursion trip of Tsomgo Lake (12,400 ft.) & Harbhajan Singh Memorial (13200ft) 52 km from Gangtok city. Tsomgo Lake freezes completely during the winter and is much revered by the locals. Overnight at hotel. Day 05: Gangtok sight seeing / PellingGo for a half day local sightseeing tour covering Rumtek Monastery, Dro-dul Chorten, Research Institute of Tibetology, Directorate of Handicraft & Handloom, and Flower Show. After lunch, departure for Pelling (6800 ft.), on the way visit Ravangla. On arrival check-in to your hotel & rest of the day is at leisure. Overnight at hotel. Day 06: Pelling sight seeingAfter breakfast start for local sightseeing covering Rimbi Falls, Khangchendzonga falls, Khachoedpalri Wish Lake, Back to hotel for lunch. After lunch visit Pemayangtse Monastery, Rabdantse Ruins, Rabdantse View Point, Helipad Ground. Overnight at hotel. Day 07: Pelling - Darjeeling (About 118 Km /4 hrs).This morning drive to Darjeeling (7,100 ft.) is one of the most magnificent Hill Resorts in the World. On arrival check-in to your hotel & rest of the day at leisure. Overnight at hotel.
Day 08: Darjeeling (sight seeing)Early Morning (at 4.00 am) drive to Tiger Hill to watch the spectacular Sunrise over Mt. Khangchendzonga (28,208 ft. Worlds third highest peak), on way back visit Ghoom Monastery, Batasia Loop. After breakfast visit Himalayan Mountaineering Institute, Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park (closed on Thursday) Tenzing Rock, Tibetan Refugee Selfhelp Centre (closed on Sunday), Tea Garden (outer view), Ava Art Gallery and Japanese Temple. Evening free (walking tour of mall - suggested). Overnight at hotel. Day 09: Darjeeling - NJP Railway Station (About 90 km / 3 hrs) Morning free for packing & personal activities. Check out from hotel in time and take the departure transfer to NJP railway station and board 2344 Dn Darjeeling Mail for your onward journey. Day 10:Arrive Sealdah early morning. |
