Varanasi aa: The land of Varanasi (Kashi) has been the ultimate pilgrimage spot for Hindus for ages. Often referred to as Benares, Varanasi is the oldest living city in the world. These few lines by Mark Twain say it all: "Benaras is older than history, older than tradition, older even than legend and looks twice as old as all of them put together". Hindus believe that one who is graced to die on the land of Varanasi would attain salvation and freedom from the cycle of birth and re-birth. Abode of Lord Shiva and Parvati, the origins of Varanasi are yet unknown. Ganges in Varanasi is believed to have the power to wash away the sins of mortals.
Sarnath: It was in the Deer park in Sarnath that the Buddha gave first sermon now termed as Dharamchakra Pravartan or turning of the wheel of law. In it the Buddha explained the way to end suffering and attain knowledge.

Proposed Itinerary

Day – 01: Arrive Varanasi

  • Meeting on arrival at Varanasi Railway station & transfer to Hotel
  • Depending on the time of arrival, visit Sarnath, marking the site where Lord Buddha gave his first sermon! Within the complex is the large Dhamekha Stupa, constructed by the king Ashoka in 249 BC, and several other Buddhist structures that were added between the 3rd and 11th century BC, latter drive back to hotel.
  • Dinner & overnight at hotel.
Day – 02: Varanasi Sightseeing & Departure
  • Early morning proceed for boat ride at river Ganges
  • Breakfast at hotel.
  • Proceed for tour of temples visiting Kasha Viswanath temple, Sankat mochan, Durga temple and Tulsi mata mandir.
  • In the evening free for some local shopping
  • In time transfer to railway station to board train for onward journey.
